Seattle is a great and easy city to concur in just 2-3 days! I went in February and the weather was mild and in the mid 50’s. I bought a new pair of rain boots just for this trip and actually never used them! The weather was mainly cloudy and sometimes misty but it never rained on us.
Itinerary
DAY 1: Flying
DAY 2: Kerry Park, Discovery Park, Pike Place Market, Alderwood Mall
DAY 3: Heybrook Ridge, Gold Bar, Gas Works Park, Fremont Troll, OG Starbucks
DAY 4: Bainbridge Island, Gum Wall, Space Needle, Selfie Museum, Shorty’s Bar
DAY 5: Flying
TIP 1: We always try to make meals inexpensive and under $10. For breakfast &/or snacks we always stop at a grocery store and grab fruit and snacks. This helps to keep cost down by only going out 2 times a day for meals. (Occasionally 3 depending on what food places we want to try)
TIP 2: This trip could definitely be shortened to 2 days, even 1 day. We took our time and visited things several times (Pike Place Market) just because. Hiking and Bainbridge Island can definitely be skipped if you are on a time crunch.
TIP 3: A car is not needed if you are planning to stay downtown. By Uber and walking, you can definitely hit all the Seattle spots. If you want to go outside of the city for hiking etc. then having a car is a nice perk.
DAY 1
Made it to Seattle around 10 pm. The airport was about 20 mins away from our hotel. There are lots of parking options in the city. Parking garages are around $10-$20 a night. Parking on the street is free (after 10pm I believe) you must get your car by 8am to not get ticketed.
DAY 2
Great view of the city from the hotel. The windows were gorgeous!
Biscuit Bitch was just around the corner from our hotel and dang it was awesome!! Cheap eat, under $10 and so yummy!
After breakfast we headed to Kerry Park. Street parking is free and just around the corner from the park. If you want great views of the city visit Kerry Park.
Discovery park is roughly 20 mins away from downtown Seattle. There are lots of walking trails if you have time, but you are able to drive down to West Point Lighthouse.
Pike Place Market is probably my favorite spot in Seattle. There are so many different vendors and floors of the market to explore. Make sure you check out the fresh flowers and fish throwing.
Stopped for donuts in the Market. Hot and yummy!
For dinner we went across town to Dick’s Drive In. Cheap, yummy and good old fashioned burgers and fries.
After dinner we checked out Alderwood Mall and it was great!
DAY 3
We started the morning by heading up to Heybrook Ridge. I was not sure what animals we might see while hiking, so we ran to the nearest Walmart to grab pepper spray just in case anything bad happened. When hiking make sure you are aware of what to do when you see animals such as a bear, moose, snakes etc.
Hiking Heybrook took about an hour and half total. (45 min up, 30 min down)
While in Gold Bar, we stopped along the river. The water was so clear!!
We stopped for lunch at Shake Shack (our favorite!!)
Gas Works Park is a cool park that has been featured in Grey's Anatomy several times. Lots of people fly kits, walk around or check out the awesome views of the city. Parking & entry is free.
Fremont Troll is less than a mile down from Gas Works Park.
We went back to Pike Place Market and went to the original Starbucks! We waited to go until later in the evening since there is always a line out the door during the day. This Starbucks was a little different and only sold merch and drinks, no pastries etc.
DAY 4
Started off with breakfast at Mighty O Donuts, very yummy!
Took the morning ferry to Bainbridge Island. We did not take the car over, so we did lots of walking. There are lots of cute shops and a great walking trail down by the water. If you don't have time I suggest skipping Bainbridge Island. By not having a car, we were limited as to what we could do. We spent maybe 2 ½ hours on the island.
We went back to Pike Place Market and checked out the Gum Wall. It is located in the market in a random alley. It can be kinda tricky to find since there are many different levels and pathways in the market.
We grabbed lunch at Taco Chukis. Authentic tacos and great!
After lunch we walked over the Seattle Center. There is a fun outdoor park that we stopped at and played around. Just around the corner from the park was the space needle. A tour is $35, so we decided to pass.
For dinner we ate at the famous Beechers. My sister and I both ordered a small “world famous” mac and cheese and we did not like it. If you go and try it, let me know your thoughts!
The Selfie Museum is a cool spot to get great instagram photos. There are about 15 different walls to take pictures on. Though this was fun, I recommend passing on it since tickets are $35 and there are not as many backgrounds as I thought there would be. (Or places you actually want to take pictures in) (pic overload, sorry I know)
For drinks and a late night snack we went to Shorty’s. Super cool bar with tons of old arcade games.
Day 5 : Flying
We had a great time in Seattle. There was lots to do, but we could have definitely shortened our trip and still accomplished everything.
Here are some places we wanted to try, we just didn't have the time
Pike Place Chowder
IL Corvo
The Pink Door
